ABOUT KAFH
The Korean American Foundation Hawaii (KAFH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes Korean culture, heritage, and history. KAFH was incorporated in November 12, 1999 as the Centennial Committee of Korean Immigration to the United States (CCKI). CCKI was established to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States (1903-2003) with events throughout the United States and Korea.
In June 2004, CCKI changed its' name to the Korean American Foundation Hawaii (KAFH) to carry on its' mission of commemorating the Korean immigration and to promote Korean culture, heritage, and history.
KAFH annually commemorates the January 13, 1903 arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States/Hawaii. On December 13, 2005, Congress passed a joint resolution designating January 13 as Korean American Day.
KAFH also maintains the Centennial Monument at Pawaa In-Ha Park and Puuiki Cemetary in Waialua, commemorates historic sites via historic site plaques, sponsors important community events such as the annual Korean Festival, and awards grants for other mission related projects.
미주한인재단 하와이 (KAFH)는 한국의 문화, 유산, 역사를 홍보하는 501(c)(3) 비영리 단체이며 미주 한인이민 100주년 기념위원회 (CCKI)의 뜻을 이어 받아 설립된 재단입니다.
미주한인재단 하와이의 모체라고 할 수 있는 미주 한인이민 100주년 기념위원회 는 1999년 11월 12일에 설립되어 미국과 한국 전역에서 한인의 미국 이민 100주년
(1903-2003)을 기념하는 행사를 진행하였으며 2004년 6월에 한국의 문화, 유산, 역사를 홍보하는 사명을 수행하기 위해 미주한인재단 하와이로 이름을 변경했습니다.
미주한인재단 하와이는 최초의 한인 이민자들이 미주 하와이에 도착한 날인 1903년 1월 13일을 기념해 왔으며 2005년 12월 13일 미국 연방 의회가 매년 1월 13일을 미주 한인의 날 로 지정하여 기념하는 공동 결의안을 통과시켰습니다.
미주한인재단 하와이는 킹 스트리트에 위치한 파와아 인하 공원과 와이알루아의 푸우이키 묘지에 세워진 100주년 기념탑을 관리 하고 있으며, 하와이 한인 역사와 관련된 유적지에 명판을 세워 보존 기념하고, 연례 한국 축제와 같은 한인 지역사회 에서 열리는 주요 행사들을 후원하는 사업을 수행하고 있습니다.

Welcome to the Korean American Foundation, Hawaii (KAFH). We extend our heartfelt gratitude for taking the time to visit us.
At KAFH, we are dedicated to preserving and promoting Korean culture, heritage, and history as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Every January 13th marks a significant day for us, as we commemorate the arrival of the first Korean immigrants in Hawaii in 1903. Through various events, we celebrate the remarkable achievements and invaluable contributions of Korean immigrants in shaping the Americas over the past 120 years.
In 2023, our commemorative projects for the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration provided a meaningful opportunity to honor the sacrifices and resilience of our early immigrants. They serve as a reminder of the enduring impact Korean immigrants has had on the fabric of American society.
Looking ahead, KAFH remains committed to preserving the historical legacy of Korean immigration, while actively promoting Korean culture and traditions within diverse communities. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with like-minded organizations to foster the growth and unity of the Korean diaspora community.

On January 13, 1903, the first Korean immigrants to the United States arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the SS Gaelic. Today, Korean Americans live throughout the United States, representing one of our largest Asian-American populations. As we commemorate the centennial anniversary of Korean immigration to the United States, we recognize the invaluable contributions of Korean Americans to our Nation's rich cultural diversity, economic strength, and proud heritage.
